Listed below are the position descriptions for the 2012 National Leadership Conference. Please use these descriptions as a reference for your online staff application. Please also reference the NLC Web Page for other questions or talking points about the program.

 

2012 NLC Position Descriptions

Activities and Logistics Coordinator

This position designs and coordinates the implementation of reflections, night’s doings, polar bear, interest groups, waterfront, slide show, and social time. Through the support of the activities and logistics specialists, this position ensures that all assigned program components are well organized, prepared, and facilitated throughout the duration of Conference. This position is also responsible for supporting the overall management of bay life. This position is a member of the Central Staff.

 

Activities and Logistics Specialist

This position coordinates and implements the reflections, night’s doings, polar bear, interest groups, waterfront, slide show, and social time. Ensures that all assigned program components are well organized, prepared, and facilitated throughout the duration of Conference. This position is also responsible for supporting the overall management of bay life.

 

Adventure Team Coordinator

This position coordinates the implementation and delivery of the adventure components of the program, i.e. mobile initiatives, team challenge, ropes course, climbing wall, second year quest and third year quest. This position is also responsible for supporting the overall management of bay life. This position is a member of the Central Staff.

 

Adventure Team Specialist

This position directly facilitates the adventure-based components of the program; namely, mobile initiatives, team challenge events, High Ropes Course, and climbing wall. Adventure Team specialists also serve a direct facilitation role in the Quest days across all years of the program. This position is also responsible for supporting the overall management of bay life.

 

Area Coordinator (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year)

This position supports the Program Specialists in the delivery of the leadership curriculum and quest. This position provides guidance for the delivery of leadership curriculum, quest curriculum, community time, class time, interest groups, and civic action. This position is also responsible for supporting the overall management of bay life. This position is a member of the Central Staff.

 

Program Specialist (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year)

This position supports the Area Coordinator in the delivery of the leadership curriculum and quest. Facilitates leadership curriculum, quest curriculum, community time, class time, interest groups, and civic action. This position is also responsible for supporting the overall management of bay life.

 

Facilities & Dining Hall Coordinator

This position supports the entire conference community through the smooth running of the Dining Hall. Coordinates breakfast, lunch and dinner and the activities that occur during those meals in addition to the special needs of quest meals. This position is a member of the Central Staff.

 

Facilities & Dining Hall Specialist

This position supports the entire conference community through the smooth running of the Dining Hall. This position supports the Dining Hall and Logistics Coordinators in the coordination of breakfast, lunch and dinner and the activities that occur during those meals in addition to the special needs of quest meals. This position is responsible for dishland and the dining hall. This position is also responsible for supporting the overall management of bay life.

 

Office Specialist

This administrative position supports the smooth running of the Leadership Conference. Administrative functions include answering the phone, maintaining an organized office, working with participants to access safekeeping during appropriate times, word processing and photocopying. Due to the time constraints of this position, the office managers do not have any formal role in community time or leadership development classes.

 

Health Team Specialist

This position supports the entire conference community by providing basic first aid and delivery of all medications to participants and staff living in the bays. First Aid and CPR are required.
