Internship Programs

Apply now for the Merrowvista Internship

Upon arrival, interns will participate in an intensive training and orientation session where they learn how to work with each other, the organization, and the students attending the programs.

The training includes:

• learning skills in group assessment

• facilitation & activities that increase communication

• teamwork

• confidence within individuals and the whole group

• waterfront activities

• high and low challenge courses

• the climbing wall

Philosophy of the Internship:

     In exchange for their hard work, AYF is committed to the learning of interns. The philosophy behind the internship is to provide a rich learning experience to new members of the field. By giving interns the opportunity to serve, the internship is an opportunity to gain experience and learn what it takes to be an effective educator while living in community. We inspire our staff to discover and develop their personal best, and aim to create an environment where they can grow and become successful leaders.

Responsibilities include:

• Facilitate learning through team building exercises, ropes courses, nature hikes and activities, and waterfront activities.

• Focus on group process, leadership and team development.

• Serve a variety of populations: 6th grade up to adults.

• Support in light maintenance and program support.
