Who are the Friends of AYF?
The Friends of AYF will be St. Louis based. The hope is to grow the Friends of AYF into an auxiliary of individuals dedicated to supporting the American Youth Foundation while having fun! Members of this diverse group will share a quest to help AYF continue in the important work of leadership development and carry our mission into the future. Their focus will be to provide support through volunteering and fund raising efforts.
We need you!
If you are a St. Louis resident, we would like to invite you to become a member of the Friends of AYF.
You will make new friends and have the opportunity to utilize your skills and talent in support of a worthy cause. Become a Friend of AYF and work with us to help develop the young people of today into the leaders of tomorrow!
The Friends group will be divided into various committees or "arms" for people to focus their volunteer efforts. Please see descriptions below of the current committees. Committees will meet on a monthly basis to plan.
Archives Committee
The history of the AYF is very important to the organization. AYF has a long and very interesting history, which is kept alive through the archives in St. Louis. The archives contain old camp photos, old Board documents, and much information and documentation about the founders to the AYF. Help the AYF history live on through organizing and managing the archives in St. Louis.
National Leadership Award/ “I Dare You Scholarship!” and Conference Recruitment Committee
The National Leadership Award, I Dare You Scholarship and Conference Recruitment Committee will be formed in order to share information about opportunities available for high school students in St. Louis to become part of AYF programs. Also, this committee is looking to update records, if you are a past recipient of the I Dare You Award and you received it from St. Louis, please contact Debi and dsittner@ayf.com or Colleen at ccronin@ayf.com.
Community Service Committee
Part of the AYF mission is to inspire people to make a positive difference in their communities. One of the goals of the Friends of AYF is to do just that! The Community Service Committee will be composed of a group of individuals who will volunteer time to better the St. Louis community while also getting to spend time together as AYF supporters.
Fundraising Events Committee
This is what we call “fun”draising! The Fundraising Events committee will help organize, plan and execute events to help spread the word and also raise money for the American Youth Foundation. This creative group will meet to plan unique social events to help the AYF raise money for our cause and awareness of our programs.
