Explorers:
As an explorer we are very lucky because we get bike, hike and canoe! All three of our trips were amazing. We started off with our hiking trip. On the trip it of course rained a lot but we were still able to have a great hike and beautiful views in the Bigelows. Next we went on our biking trip. This was so much fun because we got to go into stores and buy our food. One of our favorite dinners was Kraft Macaroni and Cheese! Our biggest achievement was having our whole village make it to the top of camp hill! Our last trip was our canoe trip. We spent three days on Lake Umbagog and the Androscoggin River. The weather was beautiful and we had fun paddling down the river. We also got to go swimming once we reached our campsite which was really fun!
Adventurers:
Bike Trip: We made it all the way to Acadia and back on our trip! We went swimming in the Maine Ocean. It was so cold! When we were in Bar Harbor we went shopping for fun t-shirts and of course ate lots of ice cream cones. Our leaders let us help pick out all of our meals in the grocery stores. On the bike back to camp we saw 27 yard balls and got to ride on the ferry from Bailey's Island to Portland, ME. It is hard to believe we were gone for 10 days but now we get to get ready for canoeing.
Canoe trip: We started our trip by taking a long van ride up to Canada. The lakes are beautiful. The second day was really windy but we made it! Last night we all sat and watched the sunset. We have gone swimming every day when we get into camp and have made up fun water contests. On our last few days we are going to learn about scouting moving water and we will get to go down some rapids!
Odyssey:
Day 2: Yesterday we started our journey at Shaw's lodging and had the best breakfast ever! I have four French toast's and a big glass of O.J. I am ready to HIKE!
Day 4: We have already hiked 12 miles and seen three peaks. It is beautiful. We can't see Katahdin yet but the views are still wonderful. Tomorrow is our re - supply. I am looking forward to a fresh pair of socks. We have played a lot of games, sung a lot of songs, and have made lots of gourmet meals (stir fry).
Day 7: Our re - supply was great. We got letters from camp and lots of good food. We continued to hike along the A.T. and got our first view of Mt. Katahdin today. Our backpacks are feeling lighter so I think that means we are getting used to it or getting very very buff.
Day 12: We finally made it to Baxter State Park today! 100 miles down. 20 to go. Katahdin is tomorrow! We have learned to embrace our trail smell and have met a lot of fun thru hikers along the way. So far the weather has held up so we are thankful for that!
Day 14: We did it! Katahdin was absolutely amazing. Well worth the previous 115 miles. I feel very proud and think I am in really good shape now. It was amazing to see thru hikers finish their journey. My feet are looking forward to a clean pair of socks and a nice hot shower. We are headed back to Merrowvista today but first we get a pizza lunch!
Voyageur:
Day 1: Today we started our journey by taking The Cat from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
Day 2: We started today by biking along the coastline headed north. The people are already very friendly!
Day 3: We had a great day of biking today. Tonight we are staying in the local fire hall and the neighbors already brought over some food for us to eat for dinner.
Day 5: Yesterday we made it to Windsor. As we crossed over the river as the tide was out and we ended up having a huge mud fight. We were so dirty but it was so fun!
Day 7: Today is our rest day and we are having fun hanging out in Truro eating ice cream. Tomorrow is our century day and I am psyched!
Day 9: Yesterday we biked 100 miles. What an accomplishment. Today we made it to Peggy's Cove and saw some awesome light houses. We also all sat and watched a beautiful sunset.
Day 12: We stopped at Risers Beach today along the southern coast. It is absolutely beautiful! We tried to go swimming but decided to stick to the sun and sand!
Day 15: We got back to Yarmouth today and got on the ferry. We met up with the other group and heard all about their trip. I can't believe we are headed back to Merrowvista. Now all I wonder is what color is our rugby?
