Pioneer & Trailblazer Program Leader Positions:

 Pioneer and Trailblazer village leaders live and work with boys or girls age 8-13. Applicants with college or equivalent experience will receive consideration. High school seniors with previous experience will be considered for our Leader in Training program. Contact Merrowvista for more information. Responsibilities include but are not limited to - With a co-leader, live with 12 campers ages 8-13 in a rustic cabin set in the pristine forest of Merrowvista, help campers adjust to camp life, creating a sense of team within the village, and helping campers learn to work and live together. Leaders assist with all scheduled daily activities including: assist and teach AYF leadership curriculum, instruct (or assist with) Pioneer Camp Interest group activities, plan village activities, lead evening activities, lead a village overnight camping trip, and assist with special events. Leader also set the “spirit” of camp: by precept and example, leaders guide the campers in AYF philosophy and are responsible for ensuring their safety and health by adhering to camp policies and procedures. Trailblazer leaders are responsible for planning and leading a 3-4 day backpacking trip and a 2 day canoe trip. Leaders have a private room or cabin adjacent to the camper cabins. Pioneer leaders sleep in the cabin with the campers, while Trailblazer leaders will sleep in their own room.

Four-Trails Wilderness Adventure Program Leader Positions:

 Four Trails Leaders live and travel with boys or girls age 14-17. Applicants with 2 or more years of college and are 21 years of age or older will receive consideration. Four Trails Leaders must have had previous experience leading groups in extended cycling, canoeing, and backpacking trips. Contact Merrowvista for more information. Responsibilities include but are not limited to - With a co-leader, lead up to 12 campers ages 14-17 living and traveling with them, teaching basic camp-craft skills and AYF philosophy in addition to helping the group to have a safe, challenging and educational experience in a wilderness setting. While not on trail, leaders will be responsible for trip preparation, preparing campers for the upcoming trip, and facilitating in camp activities. Wilderness First Responder (WFR), and CPR are required, Lifeguard Certification preferred. Successful candidates can sign up for WFR and LGT certification classes prior to staff training week. Leaders also set the “spirit” of camp: by precept and example, leaders guide the campers in AYF philosophy and are responsible for ensuring their safety and health by adhering to camp policies and procedures.

In-Camp Program Specialists Positions:

 Program specialists bring experience to specific areas of the camp program. They teach interest groups, manage logistics for trips, assist with small group activities, and help to run evening activities. Program Specialists may be called to assist with village activities. Program Specialists may or may not live with campers. Program Support Staff are self motivated individuals responsible for supporting the camp program to insure a healthy, safe summer.

Program Specialist positions available:

Sailing Instructors: Lifeguard Certification required. Windsurfing Instructor: Lifeguard Certification required. Waterfront Coordinators: Lifeguard and WSI Certifications required as well as supervisory experience. Minimum 21 years of age.

Swim Instructors: Lifeguard and WSI Certifications required.

Childcare specialist: Help develop and implement a discovery-based day program for 6-8 “pre-campers”, ranging in age from 4 years to 9 years. You will have the opportunity to work with the same group of 6-8 campers throughout the entire summer. Evenings and Special Days provide opportunities to participate in and lead camp activities for the 8-13 year old campers.

Leader in Training/Adventure Program Coordinators: Manage the high and low challenge courses and climbing tower as well as provide logistical and programmatic support to Pioneer leaders requesting out-camping experiences for their cabins. Must be Challenge Course certified. Strong Risk Management Skills/experience.

Transportation & Logistics Coordinators: Organize and oversee all transportation and logistical needs of the Pioneer and Four-Trails programs. Minimum 21 years of age.

Outcamping Food/Outcamping Equipment Specialists: Food pack out, gear check and maintenance. 21 years old preferred.

Trip Logistician/Driver: Drive groups to and from wilderness sites. Assist with other course related logistics. Minimum 21 years of age.

Camp administrative positions available:

Health Officers: Oversee the health and safety of the camp community, manage onsite health center, and camper/staff medical needs. Minimum RN license required, with ability to obtain New Hampshire nursing license.

Office Assistants: Strong customer service and organizational skills. Computer, accounting and petty cash management skills preferred.

Facility Assistant: Will assist the facility staff with basic maintenance, grounds, and custodial work. 21 years of age preferred.

Kitchen Assistants: Will assist with food prep, cooking, service, and clean-up.
