The program schedule is divided into activity block segments. Each block is intentionally framed in order to achieve your specific learning objectives. Within the learning process the metaphors help describe the task and desired outcome of the activity. Merrowvista staff facilitate all activity blocks in leadership groups of approximately 12 participants.

Team Challenge Course is designed to create a learning environment that emphasizes effective group skills. Participants work on communication, group development and building trust among team members. Groups are encouraged to understand and support individual strengths, differences and abilities in the context of a fun and safe environment.

Climbing Tower - Merrowvista has a forty-foot tall, three-sided climbing tower with six climbs ranging in degrees of difficulty. The climbing tower challenges students to push themselves physically and mentally in a safe and supervised environment. The vertical playpen provides a variety of obstacles that two climbers, who work together, need to overcome.

High Challenge Course - Merrowvista creates a supportive and safe environment where students are allowed to set and push their personal limits. Participants develop their abilities to build trust and support each other, while belaying on the ground or ascending into the air. This activity is appropriate for 7th graders and up.

Raft Building - A team is challenged to build a raft with their supplies and paddle it onto the lake to retrieve their treat from a moored canoe. The students' learning is amplified as half the group is blindfolded and the other half serves as the guides. Pairs work together and utilize skills of communication, trust, respect, decision-making and planning in order to accomplish this exciting challenge.

Awareness Hike - Participants have the opportunity to hike to the Ledge. During breaks along the mile-long trail, students focus on environmental awareness and/or learn about the group's individuals and their backgrounds. A longer and more physically challenging hike to the summit of Mount Flag is also available. The group will bring a brown bag lunch and take a half day to enjoy the Ossipee Mountains.

Winter Activities
Take advantage of Merrowvista’s unique setting year-round. During the winter months we offer snowshoeing and cross-country skiing as a great alternative to our hikes. Most of our activities can be adapted for various weather circumstances. Most days we still use the ropes courses, but for the very cold days we now have our new Adventure Center: it provides indoor climbing on the chimney as well as high ropes elements.

Our camps are located in Shelby, Michigan and Tuftonboro, New Hampshire
