Community & School Programs

AN EXTENSION OF THE CLASSROOM

The Community and School Program Team will work with your organization to create and deliver a program to suit your specific outcomes. We value the work you do with your students and we strive to build on this work, so as to launch participants back into their home communities with a renewed sense of self and purpose. We deeply value the collaborative process between our staff and yours. Each program is built with the particular assets of your community in mind and is tailored to fulfill your unique objectives and outcomes.

Objectives

By the end of their experience, students will:

Know and understand the unique qualities they already possess and take time to further develop their own sense of Best Self
Have the opportunity to practice balancing the mental, social, physical and religious aspects of their lives in a variety of situations
Develop skills important to creating and maintaining healthy friendships and a positive group culture.

You and your students will experience a wide variety of activities, including:

Hiking the Mountains or the Dunes
Challenge Courses: Climbing Tower, High Challenge Ropes Course (Indoor or Outdoor), and Low Challenge Team Building Activities
Waterfront Activities: Canoeing, Swimming, Raft Building (seasonally appropriate)
Winter Activties: Snowshoeing, Cross Country Skiing, Indoor Ropes Courses, and Snow Games
Nature Exploration and Ecological Education (Wildlife, Wetlands, Dunes, Lakes, Northern Mammals, & Outdoor Survival)
Leadership Capacity Building Challenges

Program schedules are individually tailored to your unique objectives, and our activities can be framed and shaped in a variety of ways to address the individual needs of the students in each group.

We aim to be outdoors as much as possible! Our sites, however, are equipped with a variety of heated indoor spaces, and our staff are able to adapt to inclement weather with indoor alternatives when necessary.

Experiential Education and Positive Youth Development

Our programs focus on providing your students a variety of group and individual experiences where they are empowered as learners to problem-solve the most effective solutions. The resulting group dynamic of "leadership from within" fosters in each student the ability to identify the assets they bring to a group and how best to share those with others. Guided through challenging experiences as well as reflection provides every personality type, leadership style and effective group dynamic to emerge.
