Frequent Questions From Campers

Where will I live at camp?
Your cabin is your home while at camp, and your cabinmates will be your family.  You will have 4-6 other campers who are the same age as you in your cabin.  A college-aged cabin leader lives in the same cabin.  We try to mix campers from different communities and schools, giving you the opportunity to meet new friends.   Who are my leaders?
Many leaders at camp have been campers themselves.  You will have one leader that will live in your cabin, but you will also get to know several leaders in the interest groups you choose and during many camp activities.  Leaders are just as excited about camp as you are!  Use the Letter to Leader form to tell your cabin leader about yourself and your hopes for camp.

Can I wash my clothes while I'm at camp?
Clothes worn at camp receive hard wear, so we suggest you avoid bringing costly items.  Laundry will be done once for you as a 3-week camper.  You should mark all clothing, equipment, and laundry bags with your name.

What if I lose something at camp?
If you lose something at camp, you should check the Lost and Found during camp and before you leave at the end of the session.

What if I get sick?
We have a very friendly health team at camp with a nurse and other health officers.  If you feel sick or get hurt, tell a leader and they will help you or may take you to the Health Center.

What if I get homesick?
Feeling homesick is a normal part of camp, especially if it is your first time away from home.  Talk to your leader and cabinmates and they will help you ajust to camp.  Set some goals now about activities you may want to try at camp.  Bring your favorite books, stuffed animals, and stationery to write to friends and family.

Do I get to choose the activities I want to do?
You will get to take 3-4 interest groups each day.  The interest groups will last for one week, and then you will sign up for new ones.  We have many choices for you to choose from!  There are several interest groups that we have every year, such as arts and crafts, basketball, dance, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, frisbee, fishing, theater, music, pottery, soccer, swimming, volleyball, and more!  Our leaders teach our interest groups, and we get to offer new and different interest groups each year.

Campers also have free time every day!  During this time, you can hang out with your friends in your cabin or around camp, go swimming in Stony Lake or Lake Michigan, make something in the Craft House, shop in the Camp Store, or play a game with your friends.  There is always something fun to do!
