The American Youth Foundation strives to inspire staff and participants to act with intention. The good that comes from these actions should far exceed their cost. We seek to produce more than we consume. We will use natural energy when we can in place of man-made energy.
We will not only protect our environment, but ensure that it flourishes. We believe this effort is required to sustain not only the AYF, but all life in the greater world. We acknowledge that our footprint has far-reaching effects and we intend to set an example for how to live a cleaner, more balanced life.

In addition to our sustainable uses of energy, we have incorporated a Food Program that intersects these principles. This goes well beyond the traditional thinking of "camp food" as we grow and purchase local produce to support our communities, find new methods of cooking with less processing, and educate our youth about what goes into their stomachs.
