Miniwanca Four Trails Adventure Trips

Trips for campers entering grades 9 - 12

If it’s new adventures you seek, join these single gender and co-ed groups to
explore Michigan from waterways and roadways, discover the wilderness and beauty
of Canada from a kayak, or journey through New England from the seat of a bike.
Four Trails adventure trips challenge campers in grades 9-12 to gain new strengths
while developing lifelong skills of leadership, cooperation, and respect for self, others, and the world.

Develop your biking, canoeing, or hiking skills as you meet the challenges of the Explorer trips. The Explorer Canoe/Bike will take you on a 5-day trip on the Manistee River practicing basic paddling and camping skills. Groups will also head north of Miniwanca to bike and explore the scenic coast of Lake Michigan for 6 days.  The Explorer Hike/Bike will take you for 5 days through the wilderness of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan along the North Country Trail, while the biking segment also heads north of Miniwanca for a 6-day ride.

Adventurers take to the roadways of Michigan or Wisconsin for a 13-14 day bike trip.  Campers will either journey on a pedal-powered tour of Wisconsin returning to Miniwanca on a Cross Lake Ferry, or explore the roadways, National Forests, and shoreline of northern Michigan. New for 2011 we are offering kayak trips for our 10th grade campers-- no prior paddling experience necessary!

 

Voyageur:  Entering grades 11-12    Register Now! 

6 weeks, including in-camp training days: June 17- July 27, 2012
 

Dedicate your time as a Voyageur on this 20-day kayaking trip. You'll develop your kayaking skills at Miniwanca on Stony Lake and Lake Michigan. Then take to open water on Lake Huron as you wind your way around the islands of the beautiful Georgian Bay.                                                                                       

 
Odyssey:  Entering grades 11-12    Register Now!

6 weeks, including in-camp training days: June 17- July 27, 2012
Odyssey bikers will meet at Miniwanca, have a training week, then travel in a van to New Hampshire, where they will begin the bike trip back to Michigan.

Our Odyssey bike trip will take you on a 23-day tour beginning in the mountains of New Hampshire and ending on the shores of Lake Michigan. As an intrepid Odyssey cycler, you will pedal through four states and the Canadian province of Ontario. You will work as a team to navigate over 1,100 miles of roadway, cultures, and terrain.
